Healthy Tax Credit

How about we offer every taxpayer and their families a tax credit for getting healthy. NIH should setup a health score that includes data like BMI, cholesterol levels, pulmonary function, an exercise and nutrition journal, and give every person who meets the required levels a tax credit of say $400 each. This way, there’s a direct cash incentive to stay off the healthcare dole. Healthy people might still get sick but at least they’re making an effort to avoid those diseases brought on by obesity and lack of exercise. Sure, lazy people will call it a “fat-tax.” But hey, get healthy and get the tax credit. Can’t get healthy because of “metabolic syndrome” or something medically exempting you from getting healthy? Well, then you don’t qualify for the tax credit. Too bad! Eat your deep fried Twinkies and quit your whining!

See the attached article…I’m suggesting the inverse will “play” better on main street.
